Taekwondo is a Korean martial art. In the Korean language, tae means "to strike or break with foot"; kwon means "to strike or break with fist"; and do means "way", "method", or "art". Thus, taekwondo may be loosely translated as "the art of the foot and fist" or "the art of kicking and punching," according to Wikipedia.

Many people learn Tae Kwon Do for self defense, to gain strength, for exercise, to develop self control or even for meditative purposes.

Martial arts training for children has shown to improve discipline, concentration, and respect. Classes consist of many coordination games, making the lessons as fun as possible, while still maintaining necessary structure and discipline throughout the class.

The five basic principles of Tae Kwon Do include: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit. These tenets are reinforced with instruction in basic punches, kicks, blocks, and self-defense. A typical class begins with a warm up routine of stretches, cardiovascular and strength building exercises, leading to the review and teaching of basic techniques, and usually ends with a martial arts drill or game.

Taught by 1st degree blackbelt, awarded at age 13, with over 20 years experience in childrens' instruction. Classes increases mental focus, fine and gross motor skills, courtesy and self-discipline, which in turn aids children in all arenas of life.

***NOTE: You may opt to order a uniform and belt for a $40 additional fee to be paid directly to the instructor.***
