2018 Genre Summer Camps

Lupine Lane’s Genre Camps allow older children to focus on their primary interests. Children will have an entire week to fully explore a subject that intrigues them. Camp guides are experts in their field, allowing for in depth discussions of the area and a focus on developing proficient skills that children will be able to expand on and utilize after camp.

Note: Genre Camps will not count towards the 4 or more camps needed for the Loyalty discount code.

Please pack a lunch, snack, water bottle, and hat for your child each day. A change of clothes in a labeled Ziplock bag is recommended.

Cooking Around the World
Dates: June 11-15
Times: 9a-2p

Young chefs will gain an understanding and appreciation of the breadth and depth of food around the world through practical application. Each day, the kids will discover culinary delights from a different country around the world. They will create delicious and nutritious dishes, while focusing on the country’s local techniques of preparing and cooking food, the nutritional value of ingredients and the history of food that grows in the region. Kids prepare at least 2 recipes each day.

Reach for the Stars! Girls' Leadership [Sold Out]
Dates: June 25-29
Times: 9a-2p

The Girls’ Leadership Camp provides an intensive focus on relevant topics in the lives of young females. This enriching and fulfilling camp encourages girls to look within to learn about themselves and address vital issues present in every girl’s life including self-esteem, goal setting, time and stress management, conflict resolution, effective communication skills and public speaking. Each day is highly interactive and encourages communication among peers, in order for girls to further develop an understanding of others. In addition to structured activities, sessions provide an open and accepting forum for girls to express their thoughts and feelings. Each girl is smart, strong, beautiful and capable of making a difference in the world. This week-long camp strives to assist girls in recognizing their full potential!

Be the Change: Boys' Leadership [Sold Out]
Dates: June 25-29
Times: 9a-2p

What makes a great leader? What traits and skills do leaders posses? Boys will discuss character traits that they see in men that they look up to and then reflect on ways they embody those traits. Topics will include empathy, social cues, emotion identification, public speaking, self confidence, safety and taking risks, bravery, kindness, humility and mindfulness.

The boys will create an individual project through the week to reflect their work as they learn about significant leaders in history and about themselves. They will also build a project as a team and learn about how leadership and cooperation are intertwined.

This week will be introspective and interactive. The boys will gain confidence, self-awareness and leadership skills, which will prepare them as they enter their next school year.
Lego JEDI Engineering
Dates: July 9-13
Times: 9a-12noon *Half-Day*

The Force Awakens in this introductory engineering course for young Jedi! Explore engineering principles by designing and building projects using LEGO® materials such as X-Wings, R2 Units, Energy Catapults, Defense Turrets, and Settlements from a galaxy far, far away. Create motorized and architectural projects with imagination and engineering to defeat the Empire!

A Story, A Story: Folktales, Storytelling and Dance [Sold Out]
Dates: July 16-20
Times: 9a-2p

As long as humans have had the ability to communicate, they have been telling stories. During this interactive week, kids will create a giant paper stuffed animal as they learn about animals across the world. Then, they will use their creation as inspiration to write a folktale, while reading several folktales from history. They will learn about story elements and character development as they craft their tale. Finally, they will then learn how to use movement and song to tell their story. The week will culminate in a dance performance of their folktale–the kids will have great fun experimenting with costume design and stage makeup to enhance their performance.
Tae Kwon Do Karate Camp
Dates: July 23-27
Times: 9a-2p

Campers will build on their TKD foundation as they practice basic kicks, punches, blocks, and self defense and further develop the basic tenants of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control, and Indomitable Spirit. Campers will also gain knowledge in the history and use of the Nunchaku, the Bo, and the Kitana. The week will culminate with a Ninja performance on the last day.

General Camp Terms

I understand that upon registration, there are no make-ups or refunds. Transfers are subject to our transfer policy and will incur a fee.

I, the Releasor, being of lawful age, in consideration of the enrolled child being permitted to participate in activities run and/or operated by the Releasee (Lupine Lane) WAIVE, RELEASE, and DISCHARGE the Releasee, her heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives and assigns from all liability for or by reason of any damage, loss or injury to person and property, even injury resulting in the death of the child of the Releasor, which has been or may be sustained in consequence of the child of the Releasor's participation in the activity described above, and notwithstanding that such damage, loss or injury may have been caused solely or partly by the negligence of the Releasee. I hereby acknowledge and agree that I have carefully read this Waiver and Release agreement, that I fully understand same, and that I am freely and voluntarily executing same. By clicking “I agree” below this release I will be forever prevented from suing or otherwise claiming against the Releasee for any property loss or personal injury that my child may sustain while participating in or preparing for the above noted activity. I have been given the opportunity to seek independent legal advice prior to signing this Waiver and Release agreement. I understand that my child(ren) would not be permitted to participate in the above noted activity unless I signed this Waiver and Release agreement. I understand that this Waiver and Release agreement is binding on me, my spouse, my heirs, my executors, administrators, personal representatives and assigns. If you have opted into our Tuition Continuance plan we will begin to automatically debit the agreed upon monthly tuition charge for summer camp on the first of each month beginning on June 1st and ending on August 1st. Your signature below acknowledges the payment process and that you have read and agree to the camp policies on transfers and cancellations.

Splash Day Permission

Hip hip, hooray! We're excited for splash day!

We'd like to thank Rough Hollow for allowing us to utilize their awesome splash pad, located at 901 Highlands Blvd. behind the Welcome Center. Each Friday during camp we will escort the kids over there for almost an hour of fun in the sun!

Children will have sunscreen applied (please provide your own sunscreen in a labeled bottle) and walk across the parking lot at 12:40pm and will return at 1:40pm to change into the dry clothes you have provided. They are REQUIRED to wear their Lupine Lane camp t-shirt in order to participate.

We need some additional information from you for your child to participate. Upon submitting this form, you are giving your child permission to participate in Splash Days at 901 Highlands Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78738 with Lupine Lane in June, July and August.

Your submission of this form indicates that you grant permission for your child to attend and participate in this event. You must also provide emergency medical consent as well as an emergency contact information for someone other than yourself.

If you do not want your child to participate in the splash pad activity, please email Kathryn Joiner ([email protected]) in advance and your child will remain at Lupine Lane.
